Our blood trailing / deer tracking service

Our service utilizes leashed bloodtrailing dogs for the recovery of wounded game. We are a professional, full time service featuring intensively trained, experienced dogs. Our experience with the leashed tracking dog concept dates back to 1980. AdventureVGN K9's have recovered numerous animals which would have been unrecoverable with any other method. Our dogs represent your absolute best chance of recovering your trophy. If you need assistance finding your wounded game, call as soon as possible after losing your animal's trail. It's your best chance™. ADVENTURE VGN K912pt deer and bloodhound

When to call

  • Ideally the blood trailing dog should be called the moment the hunter realizes he has a problem. Although it may be possible to run trails 24-48 hours old and older, success rates generally go down the older the trail becomes. A dog's ability to run cold, faint trails varies greatly depending on the type of wound to the game, terrain, weather factors, and the individual dog's natural ability and training. Usually, it is best if deer shot in the morning are trailed that same day or evening, and deer shot in the evening are best trailed that evening or the following morning. There are, however, many situations based on the hit and other factors, where waiting greater periods of time is prudent. When best to start the track will be decided following a hunter interview. Expect to leave a message on voice mail. Your call will be returned as soon as possible

Before the dog arrives

  • Do take your best shot at game. You owe it to yourself and to the game.
  • Do carefully observe the hit and where the game goes.
  • Do mark where you shot from, where the animal stood, the animal's departure route, and any blood or sign found. Toilet paper works well, or use a biodegradable tape. This makes it easy to start the dog.
  • Don't walk in the bloodtrail. You may destroy sign or inadvertently lay secondary bloodtrails making the dog's job all the more difficult. Generally, the fresher and less muddled the trail, the easier it is for the dog, and the better it's chances.
  • Do have the following information ready: your license #, the land owners name (if privateproperty), and search area address (location)

  • Law enforcement search dogs and their training are typically valued in the tens of thousands of dollars. Our dogs have or exceed that level of search training. Realize you are calling upon an experienced professional with unusual skills, valuable equipment and licensing, to respond ASAP to your situation, and at your locale. It is not our intention to put our service beyond the means of most hunters, though if it were priced according to skill, training, and expenses it might be so. Instead, in an effort to make our service available to most hunters, and for the betterment of the sport, a reasonable fee plus milelage is requested. Please consider, the measure of our service's value extends far beyond the actual search time. Maintaining our dogs, year-round daily training, round-trip travel to your search area, are all liabilities of time and expense on our part. We have spared no expense or effort to be the best of the best. Our bloodhound represents your absolute best chance at recovering your wounded game. To ensure the continuation of this service please donate as you are able. bloodhound saves the day in rain
  • At times, more calls for assistance come in then we are able to work. When this occurs, preference will be given to those individuals 1) who through their donation show the greatest appreciation for our service, 2)whose search is located within a reasonable distance, 3)whose hunt situation would indicate a chance of recovery. To those whom we are unable to attend to due to work load, we apologize in advance.
  • Every hunter wants to get his deer, especially a big buck, but to the ethical sportsman, once he (she) has taken their shot, it becomes their moral responsibility to exhaust all possibilities at recovering their game before he gives up- buck or doe.
